Photography after Immateriality examines digital and analogue technologies and brings them into dialogue. Immateriality forms the discreet background noise of the symposium - from this noise emerge questions and positions on 'material' photography, which in turn leave an echo in the noise of immateriality.

Together we will take a look at the domestication of plants thousands of years ago and examine how future technological developments could influence our agriculture and biodiversity. As part of Alexandra Baumgartner’s exhibition “How like a leaf I am,” a special intervention is displayed at the Botanical Garden of Bern. The connection with the Botanical Garden arose from the current exhibition “Verkannte Verwandte – von wilden Kusinen und vergessenen Grosseltern” (Wild Relatives of Our Cultivated Plants).

"How like a leaf I am" explores the complex relationships between humans and plant life and sheds light on our collective responsibility to protect and preserve agrobiodiversity. In collaboration with the collective Seed Carriers, Baumgartner uses photographic forms of expression, immersive audio installations and thoughtful scenographic elements to introduce visitors to the cyclical life form of plants and highlight the importance of seed diversity.
