In Von weiter Zeit, Edith Flückiger presents a woman’s retreat into a secluded house on the edge of a lake. The narrator reports off-camera on the experience of introspection and the emergence of a new relationship to the world. The calmness with which this inward journey takes place allows new sensations to emerge and leads to the incomprehensible. The relationship between the external manifestations and the inner states is reproduced through the interplay between the landscape, its reflections on the water and the shadows it casts. At times, reality is overlaid with a ghostly surrealism.
