whispering in a stone ear, 2019
Acrylic, plastic foil, steel wire, polished soapstone, tin basin, water, headphones, sound, 10’50”

The work whispering in a stone ear, originally created for an exhibition in an erotic cinema, explores intimacy and the fragile balance in human relationships. Leolie Greet creates an acoustic installation to address language as a form of communication: a female voice sounds from headphones, reciting a monologue that at times resembles a dialogue without answers as it tries to approach the audience. Echoing these words, steel wires reproduce the delicate silhouette of two chairs facing each other, with a basin filled with water between them. The visual installation functions as a metaphor for the fragility or even loneliness in the search for a counterpart.
