Remy Erismann works on current social themes with his sculptures. For the work Disconnect, a pair of headphones formed the starting point for investigating the concept of separation and the question of whether one can withdraw or separate oneself from others and one’s surroundings by means of acoustics. Separation from the outside creates an autonomous space, and the artist reflects on the extent to which such a strategy of isolation is related to protection and the formation of opinion. In addition, Erismann is interested in the tension between form, material and space. The fragmentary objects seem like ruins of the past that we look at with a future gaze. The concept of «archaeology of the future» inspired him in the development of his work, as did the question of the extent to which demarcation has a temporal aspect.
