JEANNE JACOB – FOR SALE

5.2.–31.12.2025

Throughout the year 2025, the artist from Biel, Jeanne Jacob, takes over the Studiolo and presents FOR SALE, a multi-chapter work reflecting on the connections between economic systems, success, and artists’ labor. In the room, a reading corner and events curated in collaboration with Gabrielle d’Alessandro will punctuate the year.

HORS SÉRIE

Essay on hair
Eva de Souza
15.3.–30.3.2025

Opening: 15.3.2025, 16:00-18:00

In her essay on hair, artist Eva de Souza invites visitors to engage with the hair of black people. It is about the symbolism of hair, the culture of remembrance and the origins of racism. As part of Jeanne Jacob’s ‘FOR SALE’ residency at Studiolo, De Souza has been invited to design the space during the Week Against Racism.

Both projects take a critical look at the market value of art and culture and show how personal identity and social structures are intertwined.

Chapter 1
Intended FOR SALE

In the first chapter of the residency Intended FOR SALE, Jeanne Jacob examines her everyday life through a personality test and reveals the dilemmas and challenges faced by art workers, beyond the simple creative practice. By playing with the myths and stereotypes of contemporary artists, she invites reflection on the ethics of success, highlighting the complex relationship between individual sensitivity and life paths.

EVENT: 20.2.2025, 18:00
Présentation Performée par La Vie Gagnée

The Performed Presentation is a performed reading in French, consisting of texts by young workers from the art world, who explore the connections between their work experiences, studying at art schools, activism, and fatigue.

The collective La Vie Gagnée organises moments of reflection and mediation on art work, its oppressions, its workers, and their precarious economic situation.
